as promised, a bonus picture for today… how is it you always see these “special” parking spots around at places, but never anyone parked in them?

let me be clear, i did not take this picture; my wife did. in fact she’s quite the photographer herself. today was a day full of celebration for both myself (graduation from grad school) and my daughter’s third birthday. thus it was a day full of family and friends and the last thing on my mind was today’s photo of the day.

that said however, in reviewing the party pictures i noticed that my wife had snapped this shot of mama bird and thought it a nice fourth installment on our backyard bird watch.

my daughter has caused me to rediscover the simplicity of the dandelion; she just loves each and every one of them. i love how she doesn’t know it’s a weed, rather she sees it as a flower. there’s something beautiful in that.

a first for me today… i rented a car. it’s always so very strange to drive, for the first time, a car that is not your own.
